    Hi WPMU,
    after updating your Defender plugin to its recent version (3.3.0) there’s been a mass outbreak of user-agent banning for my websites.

    It seems that somehow the plugin is flagging normal users as user agent’s “considered to be a bad bot which may harm the site”.

    The user agent banning option is enabled without anything on the blacklist. No changes there. Only after the latest update this issue popped up.

    Rolling back to 3.2.0 solved this issue. Please investigate, as this is a big one and possible blocking a lot of users from sites which have lastest Defender installed.

    I’m very sorry to hear that you’ve experienced an issue after the update!

    We haven’t hear of similar reports so far, but our Defender team would like to check the issue further.

    Would you be able to provide some additional details? We request the following:
    – a screenshot of the firewall logs page
    – an export of the logs – to do that, on Defender >> Firewall >> Logs please select Sort by User Agent and use the Export CSV option. Please share the export through a cloud drive download link or through a service such as https://pastebin.com

    Our team has checked the shared documents on highest priority and they’ve been able to find the cause of the issue and they’ve already started working on a fix.

    The fix should be included in one of the upcoming updates of the plugins. We don’t have an ETA at the moment, but it’s high priority. It will be mentioned on the Changelog when the update is released: https://wordpress.org/plugins/defender-security/#developers

    We have the same problem. Lot of bots are banned, even Google… Our sitemap was lost. wE HAVE DEACTIVATED BANNED BOTS to keep our référencement.

    Hey guys,

    so after the recent update the issue remains. Plenty of users get thrown into the bad & harming user-agent category and are locked out of site.
