Recent posts, but more than that. (help)

I am using the MusicPlay theme by AivahThemes (their demo), and am trying to get something to work on the homepage of my website I’m working on for my band, http://www.thejerichoharlot.com/main.

What I would like, is to show only 3-5 of the most recent blog/news entries on the homepage, but want to retain the formating of the entries from the blog page, so it’s not just the title and date that link to the entry, but I want everything that’s included in the entry to show on the homepage. Are you following? It may be a little confusing.

Here’s what I mean –

This is my current homepage. Notice how recent news is displayed. It only shows the title of the entry and the date, linking it to the blog entry.

This is the blog page on my website. I want 3-5 of the entries (not the sidebar, just the entries) to show up on the homepage in place of the limited “recent news” section.
