Received donation while test mode was enabled. How to fix?

    I thought I had turned test mode off but turns out I didn’t. I went live with the project and now I received a bunch of test donations. Is there any way I can turn these into “real” donations? If not, is there a way to “refund” the people who donated/delete the test donations and notify them that their donations didn’t actually go through?

    Hi there!

    Which payment gateway are you using? I am assuming PayPal standard, because any of the other ones would not allow a donation to actually go through. Also, even PayPal ought to have not actually charged folks, because it should have been sending them to a sandbox account at PayPal.

    If by some strange method the donors actually got money to leave their bank account and go to a sandbox URL (I’ve seen that happen once or twice in my 6 years with GiveWP) PayPal will attempt to give that money to the faux-account, and if it’s not claimed (which you can’t do, I don’t think) within 30 days, It is returned to the donor’s PayPal account.

    I’d reach out to PayPal to confirm that.

    Let me know if I am misunderstanding things, but I don’t think there is a way to use a real card to donate real money to any of the other gateways, so you can just reach out to the donors (you got their emails!) and have them try again, and then delete the old test-mode donations.
