I’ve just had a prospective client contact me via Facebook because she couldn’t get through on my contact form. I have Checkbox v2 reCaptcha installed.

So I tried it myself (in Chrome on mobile) and had the same problem: When I pressed Submit, I just got a message saying “This field is required” but I’d already ticked the reCaptcha box and it didn’t offer me anything else.

I’ve disabled the reCaptcha so it’s working now, but I’d prefer to keep it.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @lynneinjapan

It looks like you have an embedded form in your site footer that is not created using WPForms. It is likely that this is what is causing an error since the reCAPTCHA script is getting loaded twice on the page — once by WPForms, and once by the form plugin/your theme.

The possible next steps could be:

    1. You can disable reCAPTCHA on the footer widget containing the subscriber optin form as shown here.

    2. You can enable No-Conflict Mode in WPForm’s reCAPTCHA settings (under WPForms > Settings > reCAPTCHA tab

    3. If you’d prefer not to use reCAPTCHA, we have another anti-spam protection feature, hCaptcha. This is a good option if you’d prefer not to sign up for Google’s reCAPTCHA service. Within your forms, hCaptcha will display a checkbox asking users to prove they’re human (much like Google’s v2 Checkbox reCAPTCHA). We have a detailed guide for setting up hCaptcha.

Alternatively, you can consider the third-party plugins such as WordPress Zero Spam or Spam protection, AntiSpam, FireWall by CleanTalk which work out of the box to protect your forms against spam.

    I hope this helps 🙂

Thanks, that’s very helpful. I’ve recently moved to using Mailerlite for my mailing list signup form, so that’s probably where the conflict has arisen.

I’ve opted for the hCaptcha approach, so that I can keep a Captcha on both types of form. Hopefully that will fix the issue.

    Hi @lynneinjapan

We haven’t heard back from you in about a week, so I’m going to go ahead and close this thread for now. But if you’d like us to assist further, please feel welcome to continue the conversation.

    Thanks!

Thanks, it seems to be working OK. I haven’t had any more spam registrations, anyway.
