Good day @jasnlee,
I know when we were first implementing the reCAPTCHA, we were looking at Google’s documentation consistently, so as far as we can see and with the testing we did, it was implemented correctly. However, we understand that it’s not meant to be the end-all-be-all solution as well, which is why we’ve continued adding other spam prevention methods, like the one seen in version 1.3.2, among other earlier attempts. That said, it looks like a number of spam items are still managing to get through, at least in your case.
If I may as, what sort of volume of spam are you seeing at the moment, from the ones you describe above? It is possible that it’s catching a fair amount, but not all, and the volume could be notably larger. Just trying to point out a possible silver lining.
Hi Michael,
Thanks. From 1:17PM CST till now 7:56pm we have received a total of 4 spam entries.
Willing to share the url where one can find the form? I may be able to see something glaringly obvious, otherwise, I don’t sadly don’t have a great answer for this one. Thus far, the type of entries you’ve described have been the only ones that seem to get through as of late, which is frustrating.
Hm, not seeing anything glaring. I know it didn’t let me when I didn’t click the reCAPTCHA verify, nor when I dind’t provide an email address. However once I put in both, it let me through.
@tw2113 I am also facing exactly same issue as @jasnlee mentioned
i.e WP 4.8.1 and Constant Contact Forms 1.3.4 with the reCAPTCHA. Still receiving spam subscribers. They input strings of random numbers and letters in the First and Last name fields.
Did you find any solution for this yet ?
Nothing new on our end regarding this specific issue. I know I’ve given a lot of effort into trying to google this one, but it’s a notoriously difficult one to do so with quality, similar results.
I know I’ve seen many others say that Google reCAPTCHA isn’t a stop-all solution, which is why we have implemented other methods to help curb as much as we can, including a honeypot field and a timer. Still exploring other possible methods to further aid.
