    Hi
    1) I have tried your plugin yesterday and it seems really good, however I was hoping there would be a REcaptcha option with the opt-in forms that I put into my site. Is it just that I cant find it or don’t you have this option as I am worried about getting unwanted email spam which would also go into the Mail chimp List.

    2) Also could you please tell me why doesn’t the form short code work when you put it into a side bar? It seems to only work on the page?

I really appreciate your help in advance – thank you

    Hello unplugged_69,

Thank you for your kind words.

We do have basic features to prevent spam. And you can also add 3rd party Captcha plugins. Please refer to our article “Add CAPTCHA field to forms” to learn more about this.

Our shortcode can be added anywhere you would like. We also have a widget that you can add to any widget areas in your sidebar, footer if the theme allows.

Can you let me know exactly how you are adding the shortcode to your sidebar?

    Hey Harish,

    1) Thanks so much for your prompt reply and I love the plugin so far!
Yea I saw that you can link it to Captcha but wanted to know if REcaptcha was available as I believe the Captcha is not that reliable and difficult to decipher?

If not, could you kindly explain the best options or how I can potentially prevent Spam issues from the sign up form. * what puzzles me (and this is my first time using mail chimp)is that most Newsletter opt-in sign ups that I see on other websites don’t seem to use anything !!!, so I was wondering how they all handle spam issues?

    2) Re the side bar …yea found the widget and works great thanks!

    3) One final thing is, can the customer sign in later to add say a street address to receive e.g (hard) gift card in the mail? or sign in to update email address etc

Thanks so much and look forward to your response.

    cheers.

    Hello unplugged_69,

On MailChimp.com’s website, there is a link for each list through which your customers can edit their profile. You could share this link with your customers and ask them to update other details. It would not be possible for me to provide the details on this exact link as it’s a MailChimp.com feature and so beyond the scope of our support.

Regarding security, our plugin adds a hidden field. As humans do not see it, they do not fill it. Automated bots, however scan through the code and enter some details in this hidden field. This is how we detect if it was a spam signup. Other more robust way is to enable “Double opt-in” feature by MailChimp. This can be done within our form settings. With this, when someone signups, they get a email to confirm their email address. Only after they confirm their details are added to your list. This is one of the reason people do not include captcha in their newsletter form, as when you want a user to do something extra, making them fill a captcha field makes it harder for them.
