Whenever recaptcha is turned on – even in test mode – all login attempts are classified as suspicious and require verification.
The reCaptcha score history graphic indicates that the score is always captured as zero.
reCaptcha v3 keys are used and are working with Contact Form 7.
    any ideas?
    thanks,
    Jonathan

haha, I just locked myself out of my test system with this!
the test system doesn’t send emails, and the wordfence captcha regards every login as suspicious and requires an email!

    Hi @jonathanmoorebcsorg

I will ask the team about this as this shouldn’t be happening.

Can I clarify please that you see this exact message below when you try to login with the option Run reCAPTCHA in test mode enabled:

VERIFICATION REQUIRED: Additional verification is required for login. Please check the email address associated with the account for a verification link.

To gain access to your site you can use these instructions:

    https://www.wordfence.com/help/blocking/troubleshooting/#forcefully-regain-access-to-your-site

I would also like to have a look at your Wordfence diagnostics report. Please go to the top of the “Diagnostics” tab on the Wordfence “Tools” page. There will be a “SEND REPORT BY EMAIL” button to send the diagnostics report. Enter wftest [@] wordfence [dot] com as the email and @jonathanmoorebcsorg as the forum username please.

Once you have emailed me the diagnostics report can you reply here to let me know that it has been sent. This is important in the unlikely event that your installation of WordPress is having an issue with sending mail.

    Thank you.

yes that is the exact message when Run reCAPTCHA in test mode is enabled.
yes I have ways of regaining access to the site

    >in the unlikely event that your installation of WordPress is having an issue with sending mail
well the mail sending is deliberately deactivated as it is a test site, but I deactivated the mail deactivation temporarily to get back in and send the report…

    Hi @jonathanmoorebcsorg

We think that this is a caching or theme / plugin conflict.

    – You can create a staging site.

    – If you are using a caching plugin then flush all caches and deactivate the caching plugin.

It may now be fixed. If it isn’t then continue:

    – Switch to a default theme such as Twenty Nineteen and deactivate all plugins except Wordfence.

If the issue is now resolved then switch to your normal theme and see if the issue is still resolved. If it is then activate all other plugins one by one until the issue arises and you will know which plugin is causing a conflict.

    Hi @jonathanmoorebcsorg

Since I haven’t heard back from you I am assuming that the instructions solved your issue so I am marking this topic as resolved.

If however, for whatever reason, you are still experiencing this issue and it is not resolved please respond to the post, which moves it back up the queue, and mark this topic as “not resolved”.

    Thank you.
