• One of those ‘suddenly it happens’ issues. One of my wordpress installs uses a jquery image slider and facebook ‘like’ box. Starting yesterday, these elements disappeared in Chrome and Firefox. The work fine in IE9 and Opera. Oddly, they work fine on my iPhone and on my wife’s PC (chrome and Firefox), leading me to believe it has to be some caching issue with my PC. Of course, I’ve cleared the caches in Chrome and FF but I still have the issue.

And I’m asking on the wordpress forum because the only instance I’m seeing it on is on this one wordpress install.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

  • “suddenly it happens” so you do not recall changing anything from your WordPress installation, such as plugin or so?

Do you have a recent backup of the installation? Maybe you can try a restore?

Right. I didn’t change a thing. And very interestingly I renamed my plugin folder to effectively deactivate/delete all my plugins and some of the plugin’s functionality were still present on the site. I cleaned the options table of my DB for old plugin crud. No change. I’d even modified my functions file to allow for a custom generic avatar and with a fresh install of the entire theme, the function was still working – even though the functions file no longer contained the code!

So, just a few minutes ago, I had a two week old version reinstalled. Waiting for the results.

HAS to be some kind of caching issue on the server.

Do you have any cache running on the server or some cache plugin? Start by clearing the cache on the server (if you have any) and by disabling the plugins 1 by 1 until you find the culprit.
