Using the free version and impressed. So easy to optimise the database tables, clear out expired transients etc. I’ve recently enabled the plugin’s cache setting and saw a dramatic improvement in page load time. The cache is supremely easy to configure and will exclude logged-in users by default via detection of the login cookie. You can exclude paths for which you don’t want a cached version (anything page/post related to a sales cart, such as /cart/* for example).
Apache GZip compression is also a checkbox option – modern browsers can choose gzip content if the server offers such. This alters to .htaccess file and adds the required settings which make use of the AddOutputFilterByType command. Just take note that your Apache httpd.conf needs both mod_filter.so and mod_deflate.so modules loaded to make gzip compression work. I didn’t test whether the plugin enabled these, but I had enabled them manually beforehand.
Very nice plugin.
