 * Hi All,
 * I am really new and green to the world of blogging, social media and anything
   computery really.
 * I’m kicking off a blog relating to my farming enterprise just for fun, hopefully
   to help people new to the industry and even just because my family is sick of
   talking to me about it, so I hope to converse with people who share the interest.
 * Of course I’d like to place ads, sell products, monetise or something like that
   off in the future, but it’s not priority at all.
 * The first thing I’ve noticed is that if I google the exact title and tagline
   words, I don’t even appear in the search results. What would be the cause of
   that?
 * I’m up for any hints or suggestions to make the blog better or more functional,
   and thank you all in advance for any help.
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Freally-new-user%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)

 * Hi [@azadani](https://wordpress.org/support/users/azadani/),
 * Welcome to WordPress!
 * Google’s algorithm ranks websites on specific keyword based on a number of different
   criteria.
 * If your website’s title is a competitive keyword/phrase, then thousands of other
   websites are competing to rank in the top ten for the same word/keyword/phrase.
   So if your website is not very popular, the possibility of showing up in the
   top 10 on Google Search for a moderately competitive keyword without best SEO
   practices is almost close to zero.
 * I’d suggest you to keep adding quality content on your website & promoting it
   through social media and other platforms. Eventually, it will get indexed by
   Google.
 * You can also notify Google to index your website by adding your website to Google
   Search Console: [https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/home?hl=en](https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/home?hl=en)
 * Also, make sure that you’re not discouraging Search Engines to index your website.
 * Go to your WP Dashboard, then Settings>Reading. Scroll down to the bottom and
   make sure “Discourage search engines from indexing this site” checkbox is UNCHECKED.
 * Hope this helps. I wish you all the best with your new blog!

 * Thank you very much.
 * I just checked and that box is unchecked, and I verified my site with Google.
 * I’ve also got a Youtube account of the same name with a link to this blog, I
   just haven’t published a video yet.
 * While I’ve got your attention, I am using images that are links to my Imgur account
   for fast loading, is this OK?
 * As well as that, I’d like the pictures to expand to full screen/size when the
   reader clicks on them, and can the posts be cut back to the first paragraph with
   a “read more” link at the bottom.
 * Cheers again,

 * Hi [@azadani](https://wordpress.org/support/users/azadani/),
 * Using images that are linked to Imgur is absolutely fine.
 * To expand images on click: [https://www.screencast.com/t/EIWx0Hbr6y](https://www.screencast.com/t/EIWx0Hbr6y)(
   Follow the instructions in this image). Please note that how your images will
   expand or open will largely depend on the Theme you’re using on your website.
   Some premium themes have dynamic effects and more options.
 * To insert a read more button in your posts (After first paragraph or anywhere):
   [https://www.screencast.com/t/FPN2rXlK5](https://www.screencast.com/t/FPN2rXlK5)
 * I hope this helps. Don’t hesitate to let me know if you have more queries.
 * PS: I apologize for the late response. I was away for a few days.

 * Thank you very much again.
 * I went with the read more button, but I’m using Imgur links for my images so
   might not be able to have the expanding images option.
 * Really appreciate your help
