• I’ve used this plugin twice now (to post holiday hours notices on a restaurant website). The first time, I was using an older version of the plugin (1.7.1, I believe). The second time, I was using the most recent version (1.7.5).

There are limits to what the FREE version of the plugin will do, but unlike some other reviewers, I’m not going to downgrade it for what it can only do with the PRO version.

However, while the first popup I created seemed to magically fit itself perfectly into the center of the frame, the latest version did not. It seemed like the image I used was positioned awkwardly in the frame – not matching up to the center of the vertical height of the text message. I tried adjusting margin and padding in the CSS but could not get the look I wanted. I finally had to resort to changing the font size of the text. As the message grew to fill in more vertical space, the alignment with the image finally worked out. I have deducted 1 star from the rating for this apparent change in the way the alignment of text and image works. It may be a fluke, or a subtle attempt to force an upgrade to the PRO version. However, my review title still stands: It’s really good for a free plugin!

    Edit:

This plugin is now one of my must-install items for virtually every site I create. The free version is totally awesome and I’ve upgraded my rating from 4-star to 5-star. If I were to make a suggestion (not a criticism, since the documentation addresses this issue), it would be fantastic if this plugin could somehow trigger purging of caches when a popup is either activated or deactivated. It is inconvenient to have to remember when to go to the website and purge the cache, simply because of the action of the popup.

    Update:

I want to re-iterate my 5-star rating of this must-have plugin. However, it is apparent that this plugin can cause problems if a scheduled start/stop time cannot occur because the website uses a caching plugin. There MUST BE some way to make this plugin compatible with the major caching plugins on WordPress so that scheduled start/stop popup events will result in a purging of the cache.
