  • When I first heard about Gutenberg, I was hyped. It really seemed like something that could change WordPress to the better. I have 5 years of experience with WP and this was going to be a nice fresh change. A built in block editor, how nice! But no, instead of making something useful, they implemented something as horrendous as this. Not intuitive at all. Before it was “what you see is what you get”, now it is “Hide every feature and make it hard for the user”. Instead of splitting the content into block, maybe you should’ve created a functional page block editor instead. How nice isn’t it to have to create a new block for every paragraph, every heading, every video embed and so on. My clients hate it, not one client has asked me to update their theme to Gutenberg after trying it. And we have around 100 clients with a WP site. Smartest decision would be to fire the UI designer( I know, it is open source… ), revert to Classic editor as standard, and make a functional page builder instead. WIX is even better than this piece of… and I am a fullstack developer with over 5000 hours in WordPress, so I don’t say that lightly.
