 * Hi Phil,
 * this has prabably been asked by others. I’ve not actually used GCE yet and I
believe it’s read-only. I’ve signed up for 3.0 Beta. For 3.0, is there any chance
to have write/update capabilities on google calendar itself?

 * Probably in a future add on.
 * Google Calendar Events (now Simple Calendar) reads from public Google Calendar
   calendars.
 * Simple Calendar 3.0.0 will do the same but has more features, a new widget, new
admin UI and is fully extensible. That means we (or anyone eventually) can build
   add ons to add features.
 * I have ready an add on for 3.0.0 that reads from Google private calendars and
does a few more things than the base plugin currently in beta. It uses Oauth
to connect to Google and that would also allow to write to calendars. But likely
won’t be in the initial feature set. As development progresses and new iterations
of the add on are made, thanks to user feedback, at some point we could add ability
   to push events to Google.
 * ps – releasing new, and likely final, beta-2 later today, it has fixes and also
light/dark skin as well as custom color settings

 * OAuth 2, css-hack extensibility and widgeting sounds exciting. Looks like the
future direction is to go “platform” with ability to build add-on. That’s a powerful
concept esp when other killer google apps/services could be added via api leveraging
on your app. Meanwhile, once the beta push/write capability is out, I’ll be among
your early fans to test drive 3.+ and share feedback if I found anything constructive.

 * Thank you – Latest beta is here:

 * (mind wiping out previous plugin first, and ideally try this on a test/staging/
local site – if you are not sure, do backups)
 * You’re very welcome to send feedback here or if it has to do with code, you can
   use [GitHub](https://github.com/moonstonemedia/Simple-Calendar) as well
 * But if you are just waiting for ability to write to calendars I’m afraid you’ll
have to wait a few months. Since it’s a delicate feature some careful planning
   needs to go in there.
 * ps – no “css-hack” extensibility, I never mentioned those. No hacks, in general,
they wouldn’t be maintenable with updates.

 * Thanks for the note. I’ve subscribed to your updates and will keep a lookout
for the write capabilities. Happy coding!
