    Great plugin, helpful and reliable….

There is a really BIG “BUT”…..

Using Cloudinary is like a Trap…
If you start using this plugin, it’s REALLY HARD / Impossible to go back to another host. Migrating your images away from Cloudinary is IMPOSSIBLE.

I decided to host my images elsewhere, which is not possible.

My site is small but the free bandwidth is easily reached, which means payment. They’re not very expensive but i find this an almost unethical way of doing business.

They should WARN people before using the services. Now spending a lot of time getting my images back….

That’s a pity and really runs an otherwise Great software experience….

How is it a trap when the FAQ specifically has this?

    http://wordpress.org/plugins/cloudinary-image-management-and-manipulation-in-the-cloud-cdn/faq/

How can I update my posts to use local files again?

In case that you decide to stop using Cloudinary’s WordPress plugin, you can migrate your existing posts and pages to embed local image files instead of Cloudinary’s cloud-based images.

Go to WordPress standard media library (select ‘Media’ from the left menu). Select multiple media items you wish to migrate then select ‘Migrate away from Cloudinary’ from the ‘Bulk Actions’ menu and click ‘Apply’.

The selected images are automatically downloaded from Cloudinary to your local server. Associated posts are automatically updated to use local image files of Cloudinary’s CDN URLs.

Automatic migrate away is supported since version 1.1.0 of the plugin.

We would appreciate it if you could let us know why you decided to stop using Cloudinary for your site.

As traps go that’s not a very good one. 😉

It’s still much more unhandy than uploading them automatically.

I’m now migrating away 15 pages of images, which is quite unhandy. The migrate away gives 500 internal server errors which makes all of this even more time consuming.

I asked your customer service how to do it easily and they sent me a textfile with URLs without mentioning about the feature (i found it out myself, if you ask me it’s kinda hidden)

…All of That is not very handy is it….

I would suggest a feature where you can migrate just as easily as upload…. That’s all.

Once again: Thanks for the great software, Only this feature is missing.
