“Read More” Not Working :(

    For some reason, I cannot get the read more function to work. I am using the GeneratePress theme, in conjunction with Elementor. I even installed a plugin called “Read More Without Refresh” based on a Youtuber’s recommendation that it would fix the issue, yet, no dice.

    I tried using the read more button WHILE editing with Elementor, and WITHOUT. Made no difference. And yes, I have “Show Excerpt” checked under CUSTOMIZE—->BLOG.

    Does the read more function work on any page (home, about, etc.), or does it only work on the blog?

    If someone can help me, I would appreciate it. I am NOT a technically minded person, and this is literally the first WP site I’m putting together. I’m making progress quite slowly, and find myself having to troubleshoot issues using YT every hour or two. So, please explain any possible solutions like you would to a 5 year old, lol. Thanks.

    “read more” is not used for PAGES — it is usable on posts.

    Yes. Read more only works for blog posts and not page.

    Okay, that’s good to know, as that was a question I had. However…

    I meant say to posts, and it still does not work. I will try again and report back, but, there are MANY issues about this problem online, so I thought there would be some type of simple fix.

    Ok, just tried again to confirm…still not working.

    Because my site is new, there’s a default post already made called “Hello World”. This is the post I’ve been trying to edit and add a read more to. I will be using this function a lot moving forward, so I’m trying to remedy the problem now.

    Unfortunately, there’s no way to upload photos here, because I took screenshots showing that the read more break IS showing up in the text editor, but when I publish the post, it doesn’t cut the post off on the page. Even if I refresh the page.

    Could this be because site isn’t live yet? I don’t think that should matter, but again, I’m new to WordPress, so I have no idea.

    Again, I do have “Show Excerpt” enabled under CUSTOMIZE ———> BLOG. Is there any way I checked something off I shouldn’t have, or maybe didn’t check something I should have?
