You can’t just drop a template file from somewhere else into your theme. You need to create a page.php for your theme.
Thank you for the reply, but the “classic” theme does not come with a page.php, so it doesn’t seem to be a requirement.
Also, when I click on a page that has been created the content does display correctly (just having the link error). I just don’t know where the code would be. Any ideas?
My copy of the Classic theme includes page.php. Perhaps you have an old version?

WP version 2.7.1
Page Comments don’t open form or comments that viewers have left. The template I”m using doesn’t have a page.php file which I found on some on another forum that might be the problem.
The page itself shows correctly, just the read comments link does nothing.

If you go to the index of the site, you can click on the “read comments” links and it will pop up fine.
