 * Every time I access my site, I wait forever for the site to access pixel.wp.com.
   What gives?

 * Are you using Jetpack’s statistics? IF so, try disabling that piece.

 * I think I might just disable Jetpack completely. I’m tired of it! It’s real pain
in the a**e. It slows my site down and I’m really getting fed up with the moralizing
   tone of WordPress.
 * Hudson Valley: your point being? I been using these forums for 8 years!!! I object
to the interception of your note.

 * Steve,
The problem is that Jetpack tries to be all things to all users. It’s
a thoroughly bad idea, but if I disable stats, I have no idea how my site is
doing. Is there an alternative that doesn’t use the ‘Church of the Internet’?

 * I’m not seeing any slowdown on the sites on which I use jetpack stats, so it
may be something temporary or just an issue with your network/browser. You didn’t
give us a URL to test. Anyhow, there are other stats plugins: [https://wordpress.org/plugins/search/statistics/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/search/statistics/)

 * Hi Steve,
It happens whenever I try to access one of my Admin functions, eg,
Post etc, so I can’t give you a link.

 * PS: try just accessing my home page: [http://williambowles.info](http://williambowles.info),
as it happens there as well. It first accesses pixel.wp.com, which means what?
   Stats?

 * I can’t reproduce any of that and if it’s on the backend, it’s probably not Jetpack
   stats.
 * This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins,
and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable
them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.
 * If you can install plugins, install “Health Check”: [https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/)
On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and
change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, **without affecting normal
   visitors to your site**.

 * Steve,
I’ve been using the SAME plugins for literally years! I always get this
response, ‘It’s gotta be somebody’s else’s fault’! I run health check. I use
minimum number of plugins, I’ve been running this site since 2010 (on WordPress,
   2003 as a handbuilt site). I’m using a WP theme (P2)
 * My big problem right now is trying to figure out how to turn off Site Stats!!!!

 * With every WordPress update comes the possibility of a theme or plugin developer
not updating their code to work with the new WordPress code. Since this issue
is unique to your website and your theme has not been updated since February
8, 2016. So yes, it will most likely ALWAYS be the fault of a plugin/theme’s
   compatibility.

 * Oh really? I keep ALL my plugins uptodate, I run plugin Vulnarabilites etc. Your
telling me that every time there’s a problem I have to go through EVERY damn
plugin to find out if, and only if, it’s the poroblem (but NEVER WordPress, oh
no, god forbid that WordPress is at fault).

 * No reason to get snarky – WordPress does get bugs but is thoroughly tested before
release. If everyone was having the same problem as you it would be safe to say
that the problem is with WordPress, but that is not the case here. Just because
you keep your plugins up to data does not mean the developer does. Like I said,
your theme hasn’t been updated in almost 2 years. A lot has changed in WordPress
   in that time. [https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Versions](https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Versions)

 * This has gone way off track. Do the “disable all plugins” thing to see if it’s
a plugin/theme conflict. That takes 10 seconds if you use the Health Check plugin.
If it fixes it, then walk forward on figuring out which plugin or theme. If not,
then it’s time to figure out why this is an issue for you but not other folks.

 * I have the same problem too. It drives me nuts. Even thinking of getting rid
of WordPress. Nobody has an answer on that problem. And it is huge problem. At
the moment I am translating a couple of hundreds of categories into 2 languages
and each of them takes over 2 minutes waiting for pixel.wp.com.

 * Just to add to all previous comments, my site is also slow because of the waiting-
for-pixel-wp-com, I dont have that many plugins installed, and my themes are
all compatible with the current version of WP – its a mystery.
