    Hi,

I was just wondering if I were to reinstall wordpress into my webshell would I lose everything in my dashboard or would it still be there when I log in?

My hosting company deleted one of my index.php pages and now my site looks like this:

Warning: main(./wp-blog-header.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /hsphere/local/home/jenk1013/dailymishmash.com/index.php on line 4

Warning: main(./wp-blog-header.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /hsphere/local/home/jenk1013/dailymishmash.com/index.php on line 4

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required ‘./wp-blog-header.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/local/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php/PEAR:/usr/local/share/pear’) in /hsphere/local/home/jenk1013/dailymishmash.com/index.php on line 4

  • Remember your posts, pages, categories, tags, and links are kept in your MySQL database. So uploading a ‘clean’ copy of WordPress should be okay.

Make sure you do a backup of your existing files and database before doing anything. See WordPress Backups

After completing both backups I’d delete the WordPress files, then reupload those file. Steps 7 and 8 in Upgrading_WordPress_Extended explains this.
