  • Is this for a wordpress.com site?

No, this is for a site I am hosting myself. My own domain name hosted at 1&1. (Is that what you were asking?)

Then you need to install the relevant plugins.

Oh, I just realized those 2 links are WP.com OK, I’m getting the hang of this. Let me go find those plug-ins. Thanks.

In general, it seems disorganized in terms of picking a widget. I bet there are dozens of ratings widgets, so it’s hard to know which to use. Which is the most current, popular, tested, etc.

For example, this one is top hit on Google, yet it already outdated. Only works up to WP 3.1.4 http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/rating-widget/

No – the plugin is only officially documented to work up until 3.1.4. That doesn’t mean that it won’t work with 3.2.1. Not all plugin authors update their plugin’s readme/page just to update the compatibility field. Not least because it would trigger upgrade notices across thousands of blogs for no real purpose.

Got it. Now I notice the “1 person says it works” in the compatibility reporting box.
