"Random" Not Working in NextGen Widget

    We can not get the “random” function to work in the NextGen Widget.

    Have done several tests and experiments.

    We are using a gallery which contains 9 images.

    No matter what, it only shows the first image or images in the gallery.

    If widget is set to show 1 original image, it shows only same the first image in sort order.

    If widget is set to show multiple original images, it shows only the first multiple images in sort order.

    If sort order is changed, it still only shows first image or images in new sort order.

    I’ve also made sure to turn off caches.

    Update: Shortcodes are working properly on the same site for displaying random images. Tested shortcodes side-by-side with NextGen Widget, where random still won’t work.

    @evelynriossf – It may be easiest to use a work-around for the widget area by using the “working” shortcode in a Text Widget provided your theme and/or another active plugin support this option.     Yes, we eventually had to do a work around using shortcode in a Text Widget. That worked just fine. We still don’t know why the NextGen Widget’s “random” function didn’t work.

    @evelynriossf – There has been some inconsistencies in the past but we have never found a root cause for them.
