Support » Plugin: Slider, Gallery, and Carousel by MetaSlider - Responsive WordPress Slideshows » Random Image Size Being Called (but not created)

  • Hello,

I am using meta slider for a client and periodically the system will try to reference as file that does not exist. There is no rhyme or reason to causing this, it just periodically happens.

I am not able to provide a link as it is an internal firewall protected system. I would be able to provide screen shots if that would help. Here is what happens with the files.

I upload an image and insert it into the slide show. I’m seeing the image that gets uploaded as a preview image ex:
    /wp-content/uploads/2014/08/twitter.jpg

However the slider app will from time to time try to call this file:
    /wp-content/uploads/2014/08/twitter-450×192.jpg

This 450×192 size is “close” to the file size I uploaded (450×201) however that file name does not exist in my directory, (it is not created by wordpress that I can tell). This will happen for no reason, then will sometimes display the correct image.

I will also get the following error at the top of the plugin page:

    • ERROR Slide ID: #### – File doesn’t exist?

    #### References any particular slide ID. Currently I am seeing all 5 slides with this problem, however their images are showing in the previews. This appears to happen if I use the option of “Smart Crop”. If I turn off smart crop a different slider image will fail to load.

I am using the following options on the slider:

    • Nivo Slider
    • Width: 700
    • Height: 300
    • Effect: Fade
    • Theme: Light(Nivo)
    • Arrows: Check
    • Navigation: Dots
    • Stretch: not checked
    • Center Align: Checked
    • Autoplay: Checked
    • Smart Crop: Checked
    • Random: not checked
    • Hover Pause: Checked
    • Speed Delay: 6000
    • Animation Speed: 200
    • Number of Slices: 15
    • Number of Squares (Width): 6
    • Number of Squares (Height): 5
    • Previous Text: left arrow
    • Next Text: right arrow
    • CSS Class: [blank]
    • Print CSS: Checked
    • Print JS: Checked

I am also using Amazon S3 to store the images, which is working fine, all of the images that get properly created are being served from CloudFront, its just this random 450×192 image that doesn’t exist in my files that is getting called.

Is there something I can do to fix this?

    Thanks

    Eric
