random image plug-ins

Hi, I’ve been using a random image plugin and it works great. Specifically I’ve bene using the one made by Justin Watt, however I have encoutered a slight problem. My “mood” icons are generally .gif while pretty much all other pictures on my site are .jpg, I’d rather not have the .gifs dispalyed in the random image, only .jpgs.

Is there a random image plugin that has an option to allow/disallow certain extensions? If not, would I be able to edit the plugin somehow?

    Thanks in advance

  • I never have quite understood the need for plugins that have absolutely nothing to do with WP. I use a lot of php scripts and a couple are random image scripts in which extensions are user selectable. I’d suggest grabbing and using one of the hundreds of scripts out there – one that includes the options you want.

Oh. Ok then. I’m just pretty new coming from b2, I finally upgraded and got word press to work right…which opened up a gajillion differnt options and such for me, it can be a bit overwhelming, I haven’t really thought of searching outside the specific wp scripts yet. Well, I’ll give it a look, thanks Beel.

Sounds like you should post a question wherever you got the plugin (or at the authors home page). Should be pretty simple for him to filter the extensions, if he doesn’t already have a solution.

yep, got in touch with him and now his script can do both, target a specific folder or allow only specific extensions. He made it seem so easy to, like it was done in a few hours. I gotta start learning php.
