    Hi Loris,

Someone else reported something similar recently here. I’m already looking into it, but thanks for the notice anyway!

Thanks to you for this very cool and usually perfectly working plugin !

Could you please try this test version of the plugin? I made some changes and during my tests I had no problems with single / double quotes, but I’d like to be sure that it works for everyone.

Your test version works fine with my quotation marks, thanks a lot for the (very) fast corrective !

    Awesome, thanks for the feedback!

    Hello,

I just tried to include the date for displaying in the WPP selection linked above.

It’s nicely translated in french, thus reading “posté le…” instead of “posted the” : the “é” is then replaced with an interrogation mark in a diamond”.

So, I’m guessing your fix was only applying to some part of the characters’ display.

I withdrew it for the moment, so you won’t see it by clicking on the link posted here.

Yes, the plugin includes french translation (though it’s incomplete and outdated – and unfortunately I don’t know french :P).

The character encoding problem was introduced recently, I’m already working on a proper fix for that. Will keep you posted about it (or you can also follow the discussion here).

Maybe I could help with the french translation ? Just tell me how to find the french-translated words (or not yet translated) in WPP, I’ll change those and send the files back.

If it’s ok with you, of course.

    Hi Loris,

Apologies for the late reply, I’ve been quite busy with work projects lately.

About your offer to help update the french translation, if it’s still up, then please download this translation file and open it using Poedit (don’t worry, it’s completely free and quite intuitive!). When you’re done updating the translation, save changes and you’ll get two files: wordpress-popular-posts-fr_FR.po and wordpress-popular-posts-fr_FR.mo, please send them to hcabrerab at gmail dot com.

    Thank you in advance!

    Hello Hector,

It’ll take me one or two weeks (I’m kinda busy right now), but I’ll do it. After all, it’s also very much in my own interest to have a clean translation of your very effective plugin 😉

PS : I don’t know how that happened, but the previous translation appears to have seen its accentuated characters transformed into UTF-8 charset, on my website and on Poedit. Example : each “é” became é . I hope it won’t do the same to my added/corrected translations…

Don’t worry, take your time. If you need assistance, let me know!

By the way, and speaking about the character encoding issue, is there any chance I can do some testing on your site? Since I don’t have any problems with it I can’t seem to find what’s wrong on the last version of the plugin – the post title code is mostly the same as in version 2.3.2. Another alternative would be to get a copy of your current database and your theme so I can test locally.
