Support » Theme: Customizr » Quite nice but needs improvement

  • This is really a nice theme and in principle I can suggest to be used. Two things that I don’t like right now – the support for child themes does have issues and the documentation of the theme is very much outdated (several years old) and not correct anymore.
Once the docs are up-to-date and child-themes are fully supported I will give more stars (one each) 🙂

Hi @magicwordpress, thanks for this useful feedback.
I’m concerned about the 2 points you have raised
    – Support for child themes : can you give me more details about the issues you’ve had ? It is really important to fix this for me, Customizr should be child theme ready.

    – Documentation : can you provide some links to pages that you think are outdated ? Are you talking about the snippets or the documentation ( http://docs.presscustomizr.com ) or both ?

Thanks again for your feedback, this really helps 🙂

    Cheers

Yes, the snippets are quite often referring to old versions of the theme (presscustomizr.com/code-snippets).

E.g. for http://presscustomizr.com/snippet/display-categorytag-description-different-place-customizr-pro-theme/ the description below the code doesn’t fit the code example (talking about before and after loop, priorities, etc.)

Also it only seems to work if the priority and number of arguments of the add_filter() is provided correctly – e.g. add_filter(”, ”, 20, 2). I was struggling with that quite a lot until I found out.

Just as a side remark – having a website without https nowadays (one can get encryption for free via let’s encrypt) is a bit anachronistic.

OK. I agree, many should be updated.
We are currently focusing on an important development that will be added to the theme shortly and will provide a more modular framework.
Then I plan to work on major update of the snippets. The will be moved in a .developers subdomain and be easier to search. They should also be all turned to github gists which are much more convenient to handle because supporting versionning.

    Thanks for this feedback.
