Quirky Like Button

  • I’m not sure whether it is the plugin (probably not) or Facebook in general but for some reason the Like button functionality on my website:

    http://www.southsidesix.org.uk/

Seems very flaky. When I click it it seems to say “xxxx likes this page” but then subsequently reverts to “Be the first of your friends to like this.”

When I look at the link posted to Facebook – it appears that I like that post but not the page on the website…

    Any ideas?

  • You can check if the Open Graph Protocol is enabled (a plugin option).

When I look at the link posted to Facebook – it appears that I like that post but not the page on the website…

The like button is always associated with the post or the page it belongs too, even if the post is displayed on the front page (or in the archives, etc).

Open Graph Protocol is enabled. Is this correct?

The like button is always associated with the post or the page it belongs too, even if the post is displayed on the front page (or in the archives, etc).

But what I mean is that when I click ‘Like’ on the article on my website, it doesn’t seem to register me as liking that page (well it does but then it immediately unlikes it). However, when I then look at the post on the Facebook Page Wall it appears that I like that post rather than the article on my site…. It’s quite hard to explain!

Could you please try if the development version fixes your problem?

It seems to be a Facebook bug, see this discussion.

Yeah, I updated to your latest version (1.89?) and it’s still not working… hmmmmmm… it’s quite annoying! (but I appreciate it’s probably a FB problem and not an issue with the plugin!)
