Quick! User profile pages?

  • So I’m rushing a deadline to launch my site, and almost done! But one big issue remains that I have yet to figure out.

How do I set up my site so that when a registered person leaves a comment, you can click on their name and it takes you their profile?

I have a my profile link when you sign in, and it has al the fields such as bio, AIM, gender, etc. But I can’t figure out at all how to make that page public and easily accessible for all users. I want to have a user be able to fill out their about me section, leave a comment on a story, and then be able to click that person’s name and see their profile.

    How? Thanks!

  • most themes do that by default
have you set up a test account and checked?

I’m using the arras theme and my site is http://www.knowthescene.net

When you sign up and go to my profile, it brings you to your page where you can edit info.

But that’s it. When you leave a comment I can’t click on a name and view the profile. And don’t see an option for that anywhere.

    Anybody?

Without a plugin, this isn’t standard WP behaviour ( at least i don’t believe so )..

WP is primarily a blogging tool, not a CMS ( yeah i know not everyone will agree ). Author pages can be made, but for regular users, there’s not really any such ability to show that information easily on a page, at least not natively.

If you want user profile pages, then you’ll need to look at plugins or writing your own custom code.

BuddyPress has fancy profile pages, but that may be way more then what you want.

I think you will need to create a custom comments function. See

    this reference.

When you sign up and go to my profile, it brings you to your page where you can edit info.

sorry – that’s what I thought you meant
