    Hi WordPress Support team,

I have been using the forum from long time. But few months ago, I asked the plugin developers to check my wordpress install, offering wp-admin install. I didn’t know that it was an offense in this forum. But since then every time I post any question, they are held for moderation.

This is very annoying, because some times some issues are very urgent and I expect them to be published and replies ASAP. In that case it creates lots of problem.

So how can I remove this limitation from my account?

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks.

You’ve posted a number of messages with content like

    >> Can I have the reply soon please? <<

We have a rule against bumping: No bumping.

The moderation will be lifted when it’s clear you’ve stopped doing that.

    Hi Steve,

I am not sure, I understand my mistake completely. I didn’t mean any harm with those sentences. I just wanted my replies soon, if possible and only when they come up in any predefined order. They might be some urgent issues and that’s why I might wrote that way. Other than that I didn’t have any other intention.

Anyways, how can I assure you that I am not going to do that? If you moderate my posts then up to how many posts will you check?

    Thanks

    Hi @anjanphukan,
We ask people not to bump because in WordPress.org bumping does you more harm than good. Bumping will reduce the visibility of your thread by making it appear as though you have received support. We have a way of finding threads that are not yet answered and many volunteers prioritise threads that have no replies. The idea of bumping here is a fallacy.

We usually monitor for a few days until the waters calm, but if you’re telling us you’re ready then we can take the flag off your account now.

Bumping also doesn’t change the fact that WordPress.org is run by volunteers. Threads here are answered in people’s spare time. If someone knows the answer and they are around they’ll give you that answer. This is the standard of volunteer support.

If you’re looking for a quicker answer and have urgent circumstances then we recommend you pay for someone to support you. For instance you may be losing sales of items. This way your expectations are not being disappointed.

Another reason why your account was flagged was being you were pinging volunteers to attract attention, i.e. “@username, can I have a reply?”. Please don’t continue that. We don’t want to target volunteers. Just like I mentioned above; people will respond if they think they can help and if they have time to respond.

    Hi,

Thanks for your reply. But let me clarify that when I wrote, “@username, Can I have a reply” I didn’t mean that “hey @username, please reply this to me now!”

It was just a simple gratitude. Like “@username, thanks for your solution” or “@username, that was helpful.” something like that.

Secondly, I know people will reply only when they have free time and only if they know the answer. I can’t bound someone to reply me if they don’t know that. But only the people who know will answer when they can. It’s a shame wordpress took my comments otherwise.

    Anyways, I will NOT:
1/ Write any user’s name from now. Not even in a thank you reply.
2/ Write any message like, “Can I have the reply soon please?” But I am not sure which one causes the issue – the sentence “Can I have a reply” or the word “soon”.

    Thanks.

To clarify, the posts that caused the issue were:

    1. Hi @[username],
      Kindly help with this ASAP.

    2. Hi,

Can I have the reply soon please?

      Thank you.

    But I can write

    Can I have a reply

    Right?

Please let me know what’s next.

    Thanks

Okay, so from now, I will post only my question.

If you don’t get a reply from an author/developer, you can use that as signal that (1) either you’ve used the wrong support channel* or (2) the author is not responding for a good or poor reason**.

    * check the sticky posts at the top of the support threads to see if the author uses some other support channel

** check the support threads. If the author has a habit of not responding, it may be time to look for a better supported theme or plugin. If it’s just a few days, the author may be on vacation, sick, or tied up with other work. You’re asking for help for something you got for free and you have to give some slack on this. If it’s so urgent you can’t last a couple of hours or days, you should probably hire someone with deep WP experience to maintain your site.

I’ll just chime in that sometimes other forums like StackOverFlow can provide a faster reply in part because they are “gamed” to reward correct answer, points system for activity etc. Because I see you’re a developer yourself, so I understand the situation a bit if you’re in the middle of a project and facing an issue then you can’t wait days to continue your work without disappointing a client. But there is that golden rule don’t let your emergency become a plugin or theme developers emergency. Because they put their time into building a plugin, released it for free, they’ll help when and if they can. Of course some plugin/themes are much better supported than others, some have companies and teams behind them, some are abandoned, so if you’re choosing between a couple of different plugins that might work for a project it’s worth taking a peak into the support forums and just check what is the average response time and do issues usually get resolved. It’s also one of the best ways to measure plugin quality, because a plugin can have a high rating even if certain issues are unresolved.
