• I recently signed up for an account. I have a primitive blog up and running. I tried to do the install, but it claimed it was already installed, and gave me some errors, and some script.

Now, my dashboard seems to be missing items that are on the dashboards that I have seen in screen shots. I cannot (or atleast I don’t know how) to change my template without these other options.

The options that are listed on my dashboard are: Write, Manage, Links, Presentation, Profile, Options

The options that I see in screenshots are: Write, Manage, Links, Presentation, Plugins, Users, Profile, Options, Logout

I would really just like to change my theme but right now I can’t seem to be able too. Thanks for the help.

    n00b, over and out 😉

  • Are you using a yourtitle.wordpress.com blog?
or having it hosted someplace else?
What do you see on the presentation tab?
You should be able to change your template on the presentation tab!

This may seem like a dumb question, but have you installed other themes besides the defaults?

If you’re using a hosted blog at wordpress.com, you need to contact them using the contact link provided….

Hmmm, I don’t know if I have “installed” more themes than the default. On my local machine, I placed a unzipped template folder in the wp-content/themes folder. Under the presentation tab I only see default themes. So I change the theme but not to anything custom.

If the theme you placed in the template folder is “unzipped” as you describe you must un zip it for the system to read it.

Did you upload the folder to your server? OR are you trying to run WP locally?

I didn’t upload the folder to my server; this n00b don’t know how. Thanks for all this help guys, I don’t think I could have figured this out on my own.
