• ALT text: I’ve been told it’s important for SEO in my last post.
Just wanted to check is it OK to have this:

    gold-sequined-one-shoulder-long-sleeve-drape-wrap-dress
    Or should I make it:
Gold sequined one shoulder long sleeve drape wrap dress

(Should I worry about making capital letters at the beginning?)

Title – where is this used?
    Is it needed for SEO?
If I made it the same as the ALT text – is that a bad thing?

Caption – I’m guessing this is nothing to do with SEO and has no effect?

Description? Where would this be used?
Would I need meaningful content here? If I used the same as ALT, would that be a bad idea?
    Needed for SEO?

    Thanks.

  • This isn’t a SEO forum, but we can tell you how WordPress works, or even better:
Go to https://wpsandbox.net/ and make a test site.
Upload an image and fill in the fields with their name, so description says description, title says title, caption says caption, etc.
Now put that image into a post in all the various ways you can, image block, media and text block, gallery, etc.
Visit the published page and use your browser to View Source. This will show you the HTML of the page. Look for the image and see how each part of the text is used.
Now you know what WordPress does. Imagine you were a search engine. You would be seeing this HTML and trying to determine what that image looks like. It’s very similar to a blind person using a screen-reader to make some sense of your page.
Especially the alt text, but all of these text fields help those without eyes to determine what an image is. Make it plain words, no dashes.
Don’t do it for the search engine. Do it for the blind people.

By the way, I have two elderly friends that aren’t blind, but have very low vision. They rely on the screen-reader to tell them what’s there.
