# question regarding php 7

 * I am thinking of my upgrading php from 5.6 to 7 as this is a recommended version
   for wordpress.
 * I am trying to see if I should be aware of anything before upgrading. Does upgrading
   to php 7 require me to upgrade mySQL version too?
 * I don’t have access to server root, should I request a ticket to my hosting provider
   to upgrade php 7? should there be anything that also needs to be upgraded?

 * Yes. WP recommends PHP 7. Use 7.0.x, though, not 7.1.x as I’ve encountered some
   issues with plugins on 7.1.
