• Hi Community,

I want to enable reduced taxes because in my country (Greece) for some cities/towns we have reduced taxes.

In Taxes – Reduced Rates I add a row where I only enter the country’s code, a postal code for a specific city with the reduced tax and the tax rate.

I was thinking that if the customer types his postal code in his address the system would understand that the reduced tax must be enabled but not. The system always applies the standard tax.

Maybe you could point me what I am doing wrong.

    Thank you.

  • Hi

The tax classes (Standard, Reduced Rate and Zero Rate) apply to products not customers.

To set a tax rate for a customer you should edit the tax class and add a rate based on their location.

Bear in mind that WooCommerce will use the first tax rate it finds that applies to the customer so if you create 2 tax rates, 1 for the whole of Greece and then one for the specific location of the customer, the Greece rate will be applied first and the rate for the specific location will not be used (unless you are using compound rates)

You can read more about WooCommerce and taxes here http://docs.woothemes.com/document/setting-up-taxes-in-woocommerce/
