Question on move to multisite

We built a new site using a development domain with the X-Theme. I chose subdomains vs. subdirectories and set things up. Now when we try to navigate to pages within our main page such as mysite.com/about/contact it give me a 404 error. Can I not use subdirectories within the main and sub pages?
