Question on Allowing nw users to post articles

  • Can I get a read on if I can do this and what plugins I need to do it? I’ve been out of WP for a bit and can’t remember.

I’d like to create a blog that allows users to register and write their own posts to the site. When they first register, they can write posts but they are held as drafts until I approve them. But then if I change their user level, they can post directly without approval. Can this be easily done?

Also, to facilitate their registration, is there a best way, or a plugin available, that will make it more intuitive and easy to register?

    Thanks!

  • Maybe I am missing something in your post, but I’m sure that you can accomplish most of this without a plugin by going to your admin panel and assigning roles to users.

As far as the approval time for posts, I am not sure.

WordPress allows users to register to your blog. You can even add them yourself. Look at the Users tab in your admin panel.

Thanks, it appears that it is all built in. However, it seems that the workflow is not good. If I have dozens of new unpublished posts to manage, they just show up in drafts, which is not a great management system. Plus Im not excited over how much other info a Contributor can see in the Admin panel that is really none of their business.

Seems I need to use Expression Engine or an article management script.

I was looking around the admin panel briefly and I didn’t find a way to edit the roles. It may exist. Also, try searching for a plugin called Role Manager. Good luck.
