    Dear Support Team,

Thanks to your great tutorial, I successfully set up Complianz, GTM and GA v4 (via GTM).

I only have a question for you: On my website, GA (set up via GTM) is only starting to track when the user accept the cookies. If the user does not click on “I accept”, GA is not recording anything. Is it correct or should it at least trigger page views without the user consent?

Many thanks for clarifying this point,

    Vincent

    Hi @vincente56,

It depends on what trigger you are firing the Analytics tag in GTM. If you set the Analytics trigger to “cmplz_event_functional”, it will be loaded before consent and you should get pageviews without user consent.

    Kind regards,
    Jarno

    Hi @vincente56,

The above is correct, you can also skip the event and track with All Pages as trigger.

In this case, make sure you have set up GA 4 correctly https://complianz.io/configure-google-analytics-4-for-gdpr/

You can anonymize the IP in GTM by adding a field in the GA4 Tag with anonymizeIp = true,

    Hi @jarnovos,

Thank you so much for this answer. Is there a tutorial to set the Analytics trigger to “cmplz_event_functional”? I do not understand how to implement it. Indeed, I would prefer to fire Analytics before the consent.

    Kind regards,

    Vincent

    Hi @jarnovos and @aahulsebos,

It seems that I found the way to set up what Aert is recommending.

In GTM, my GA4 tag is triggered on All Pages, then I set up GA4 (using https://complianz.io/configure-google-analytics-4-for-gdpr/) and I anonymized it.

Is there a way to check that everything is correctly set up?

Question: I checked GA4 real time dashboard. GA4 is tracking page views but the location on the map is wrong. Is it due to the set up and the anonymization of IP addresses?

Many thanks again for your support,

    Best,

    Vincent

    Hi @vincente56,

I can have a look at the site to see if the All Pages trigger is set-up correctly. You can also use a browser extension such as TagBird and visit your site, to get more details about the GTM setup.

As for the GA4 real-time dashboard displaying less accurate locations, that could indeed be the case when Anonymizing IP addresses.

    Kind regards,
    Jarno

    Hi @jarnovos,

Thank you very much for your feedback.

I installed TagBird and everything seems to be fine. Is there a way to send you a private message with my website?

    Many thanks,

    Kind regards,

    Vincent
