  • Hello all!

First of all, I would like to say THANK YOU for this forum and reaching out to help, I can’t express how much I appreciate it.

What I am trying to do is I want to have a wordpress site that has a “multi-site” feature; that gives registered users their own dashboard and an ability to create their own website from the templates that I provide.

I want them to be able to change out the content (text and images) with their own. I also would like to give them the ability to connect their domain name to my sub-domain of the template site they created.

I would like it to be very easy and user friendly (not like standard wordpress dashboards)

A perfect example of what I would like is: http://www.happytables.com/

They allow restaurant owners to create their own website with the templates they provide, the whole nine yards. They allow them to create a website for free with limited options, then upgrade at a monthly cost for unlimited options. This is EXACTLY what I wish to do.

My question is: is there plugins and themes that can support all of this? I am having trouble finding all the pieces of the puzzle.

Once again, I really appreciate it!

  • No…

Something like that is completely custom built from the ground up. No plugins are going to help you achieve such a complex and custom site.

I had the same thought process and built up an entire site with all of said functionality, but have since abandoned the project. I can tell you it took a great deal of custom coding and a whole lot of figuring things out. Maybe one day I’ll circle back around and either release or sell off the project, but point is the entire process was very in depth and not an easy “turn on this plugin” to get things working.

For one, the entire dashboard is a completely watered down re-design of the default dashboard. That in itself (sans functionality) can take a few days.

How much do you suppose you would estimate the cost to outsource this custom built site?

You can find this out by advertising on http://jobs.wordpress.net , not WordPress.org.

    Honestly….a lot of money.

I can recommend a very solid base using something like Gravity Forms user registration. That in itself grants you the ability to generate a sub site from new user registrations on multisite installations.

    http://www.gravityforms.com/add-ons/user-registration/

There is a plugin (I can’t remember the name) that will allow mapping sub sites to a real domain.

The difficulty arises when it comes to payments, recurring payments upgrading/downgrading accounts etc.
