    Hi,

    I recently published a link to my website in Instagram and Facebook but only the visits from Facebook are being registered in the Social Networks segment. To know which visits are from Instagram should I create a unique campaign URL? Or the visits from Instagram should be recognized without th need to create a special URL?

    Thanks for your message.
    Does your visitors come from the app or the website?
    If you use a campaign, it will overwrite the referrer data and use the campaign data instead.

    Hi,

    The visitors are coming from the Instagram app, I also visited my website from the app to test if it’s working. I’m not using a campaign link in Instagram.

    Perhaps I didn’t explain myself properly, what I would like to know is if the visits from Instagram should look like this one from Facebook:

    thanks for your message.
    We cannot reproduce your problem and our visits from Instagram are well reported in Matomo.
    It’s possible that some operating systems or some apps do not send an appropriate referrer and render difficult to track the origin of the visit.
    Using a campaign URL will allow you to quickly solve this issue. Just keep in mind that your visits will be reported as coming from the campaign and not from Instagram.
