# question about Permalink

 * Hello
 * My wordpress uses this Permalink settings /%category%/%post_id%/
 * and all urls indexed in google using the above.
 * now i want to change the Permalink to /%postname%/
 * but this will make all google archive 404, so the question is that, how to redirect
   old urls to new one ?
 * please advice

 * Hi and thank you for reply,
    My server based on Apache, but the problem i am 
   not good with coding and .htaccess file. So i tried this plugin, [https://wordpress.org/plugins/redirection/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/redirection/),
   and the setting page set like this [https://imgur.com/OEuae3n](https://imgur.com/OEuae3n)
   but no redirect, the old URls send me to 404 page, any advice please ?

 * Source In the picture it is different from this one `/%category%/%post_id%/`
   
   you can use rewrite if the url is known, but the plugin with the php code and
   many categories should avoid the overloading of the rules used in htaccess (if
   you can’t create a single rule that matches all your categories).

   you can’t use wordpress variables but you have to use the path or a regex .. 
   write in their support.
