    Hi!

I’ve set up All In One Seo Pack on a host where it is not possible to write to server.
In the XML Sitemap section it asks me for FTP credentials, but the XML sitemap still seems to work (clicking on link to test it shows it seemingly correctly).

Question is – am I losing out anyhow by not providing those FTP credentials (it’s not the question if I do it or not, I’ve tried and it doesn’t work with correct ones)?
Do I understand that everything should still be working just the XML will be dynamic instead of actual file on server?
I am particularly interested whether the search engines will still be alerted properly.

    Thank you for great plugin!

If you want All in One SEO Pack to write the XML sitemap as a static file to the server then you do need to provide FTP access. If you have Dynamically Generate Sitemap enabled then this is not required because the sitemap is dynamically generated, there is no static file.

However, if your file permissions and ownership are not set correctly on your server then you will run into problems at some point, not necessarily with our plugin but it could happen with other plugins. Consult the WordPress Codex about how to correctly set file and directory permissions and ownership – http://codex.wordpress.org/Hardening_WordPress#File_Permissions
