• Hello! I am a fanfiction writer, and the LiveJournal community that I participate in has found that a journal using WordPress software – http://fanfic-journal.com/ – searches LiveJournal for the keyword “fanfic” and copies entries it finds and posts them in its own journal. It does credit the author account using a link, but it is certainly reposting people’s content without permission (as opposed to providing links to the original content). The writers are upset about this: they want control over where their work is published.

I was wondering if WordPress has any ability to do anything about it, and if they would work to have the journal stop copying without permission or to shut it down entirely? If so, where do I inquire about this? Thank you!

    Carole

I’m not sure what authority you think WordPress.org is in. WordPress.org just distributes & maintains software.

Yes, I know that’s what WordPress.org does, but I don’t know if it considers what this journal is doing a violation of any of its use policies, which is why I asked. From your response, it sounds like it isn’t, and I thank you for that information!
