• Greetings,

My question involves how to take database records and display them in formatted screens/forms within WordPress pages. While I’m happy to do my own research, I’m not sure what to ask in terms of how things are called in WordPress, so perhaps if I can explain what I’m trying to do, I can figure out what to look up, to learn how to do it.

In short, I want to create a back-end database into which I can input records with text and media fields, and then have those records displayed in formatted screens, all pretty-like, when links are clicked to show them.

For example, let’s say I have a coin database. Each record would be a specific coin, a 1955 penny for example, that would contain descriptive fields about the penny, and also have a couple images. I’d have a record like this for each coin.

On a given page of my site called “Coins that I have” for example, I’d have a list of the pennies displayed. Each name is a clickable link that when clicked would display a formatted screen with the images of the coin and the field contents formatted in a way that makes sense that looks pretty.

As I am relatively new to WordPress, using a hosted WordPress site and not WordPress.com, I am not sure if there is a way to do that using plugins, and if it’s possible to do this without coding or programming experience.

My main challenge is I am not sure of what language and vernacular I should be using to Google what it is I want to to, and secondly, I am not a programmer… just a lowly designer and graphic artist.

Again, I am using a hosted install of WordPress as opposed to a WordPress.com site.

Thank you for any help or insight you can provide.

    Ron Jaffe
