    Hi there

I’m just testing my checkout form and can’t seem to simulate a FAILED order on checkout which would bring up the: “Unfortunately your order cannot be processed as the originating bank/merchant has declined your transaction. Please attempt your purchase again.” message.

    Anyway, my question is:
On a failed order, does the cart empty so the customer has to go back to shop or does the cart still have the contents and the customer can go back to the checkout page again and retry?

    Thanks

    Hi @tslater2000 ,

May I know which payment gateway are you using for testing? If you’re using Stripe or WooCommerce Payments in “Test mode” then failed orders can be simulated using these cards: https://stripe.com/docs/testing#declined-payments
Do note that the test cards will be different for other payment gateways though.

On a failed order, does the cart empty so the customer has to go back to shop or does the cart still have the contents and the customer can go back to the checkout page again and retry?

The cart gets emptied, but the customer can retry the payment from the My Account page.

Do let us know if you have any further queries.
