Support » Plugin: Cloudflare » Question About Askimet & Cloudflare

  • Hi,

I run a wordpress blog at beyond4cs.com. Recently, there is alot of WordPress spam comments coming in from many many different ips.

I already have Askimet and Cloudflare plugins installed. And I read that Cloudflare can “block” off ips that are deem spammy so that the bots never even reach the website.

Here’s my question: Askimet automatically flags comments as spam (i have well over 6,000 of them in my control panel). When Askimet flags these comments as spam, does it pass the information automatically to the Cloudflare plugin so that it blocks off the ips? Or do I have to somehow click “spam” for these 6k plus comments?

I had cloudflare installed for 1 week now and the spam comments haven’t seem to slow down. That’s why I am asking whether I had some settings misconfigured.

    Thanks for helping in advance.

  • Here’s how our plugin works relative to spam:

“Every time you click the ‘spam’ button on your blog, this threat information is sent to CloudFlare to ensure you are constantly getting the best site protection.”

The information from Akismet is not passed off to us automatically.

Where does your spam seem to be originating from? Have you tried adjusting your CloudFlare Basic Security Level to a higher level?
