query_posts in WP 2.5.1 and excluding posts

    Hi, I am using query_posts on my index.php page to exclude posts from a certain category. It works great. However in the codex it says that if you excluded category x but the post is listed in categories x and y it will still appear. (presumably because category x is excluded but y is not).

    I am not getting that result. When I exclude category x, all posts in that category do not show up on the front page even if they are also in other categories. Is this a new feature for 2.5.1, or a bug, or am I doing something wrong?
