• I have just upgraded to the latest version of WordPress. The upgrade went relatively smoothly apart from an issue that displays a query string “v” (version?) after my url.

This is appended on all pages and is affecting redirects, and most importantly, customer orders which is preventing users from purchasing memberships.

The query string I am seeing is /?v=6cc98ba2045f.

I have checked my permalinks and my .htaccess file and they both appear fine and haven’t changed during the upgrade.

What is causing this query string and how do I stop it from occurring?

    Thank you.

  • hi, pzaikis, & welcome to the WordPress support forum. Could you please provide us a link to your site? If you’re concerned about SEO, etc., I’ll trust you if you use an url shortener. But we really need the link, please.

    I have the same problem.

Only appeared since the 4.3.1 update as well.

No other results in Google except this post.

    Reinstalling WordPress doesn’t help.

Every single link and menu item has that on the end of it.

I’m at a loss, I’ve scanned through each PHP file trying to find that string.

I’ve been through the entire mySQL db trying to find that string.

Nowhere can I find how that is coming up.

    Open to any ideas,
    Cheers,
    Ryan

    Its WooCommerce.

I was able to pull down my site and disable each plugin to find the cause.

Knowing that is there a setting in WooCommerce that would cause this?

It is the WooCommerce “Default Customer Address” with “Geolocate (with page caching support)” option ticked.

once that was changed back to either GeoLocate or Shop Base Address problem URL went away.

Thank you so much. Was looking for this for a while.

oh boy! another life saver… this d**n thing added 3s to my website load time

Awesome!!! Great info. I had the same problem on my rsoldiers.com. Thank you so much Ryan! You rock dude.
