I am a computer novice but was able to set up automatic backups on 1 and 15 of every month. After updating to latest version, it appears that I lost the pw protect on XCloner plus I get the email below on the 1st and 15th and need to backup manually. Can anyone either give me the step-by-step to get these back or a link to where step-by-step can be found to be used by computer illiterates, please? Thanks to whoever can assist.
    Here’s the email:

  • What is the cron command you’ve setup?

The only allowed format from now on is

    php /home/*site*/public_html/wp-content/plugins/xcloner-backup-and-restore/cloner.cron.php mycustomconfig.php

Okay, I think I may have it?—I set it up via cPanel with this: * /usr/bin/php /home/npgscom/public_html/wp-content/plugins/xcloner-backup-and-restore/cloner.cron.php So if I just change that to the new one, it should work? Also what happened to the pw protect? Thanks so much for your help, DJ

Yes, that will do the job. For security reasons, the cron is only allowed to run only when called from the localhost machine

Thanks so much! I just duplicated that cron job with one for just tomorrow so I can make certain it works. Now, what about the password protect? It used to be when I went on the backend and opened XCloner, it would prompt me for my password–like a doublecheck. I seemed to have lost that with the update? Thanks, DJ

You might need to re-add that code, the update does overwrite all files of the plugin.

When I initially installed xCloner, the pw was an option which I liked (double check on backend). Where can I find it now? I checked every tab and could not find anything. Thanks much.

Password is not needed anymore since the cron can only run when called from inside the same server.

Oh, okay–I can’t stop trying to “fix” that one then :). Now, on the cron, I’m STILL having problems. I thought I had it when I received the email below. The first time I got it, went into xCloner and copied the whole line; didn’t work, so copied just “mycustomconfig” and it still didn’t work. Via cPanel there was no way to give it a name per se just the coding. I feel so stupid–this cannot be that hard.

<b>To run this script you need to create a custom config file inside XCloner Config, and call the script using php cli command like this:</b> <b>php /home/***/public_html/wp-content/plugins/xcloner-backup-and-restore/cloner.cron.php mycustomconfig.php</b>

Did you create a custom config in the xcloner config? can you post a screenshot of the xcloner config-> cron tab area?

    (@canteen-41)

I am pretty certain that is what it is talking about yet I have no clue how to do that. Won’t let me attach a screen shot; tried Cont’l C/V, tried normal copy/paste, don’t see an insert icon (weird; I copied and pasted the info below).
I will say the “configuration name.php” is blank and the available configurations is

    http://****.com/wp-content/plugins/xcloner-backup-and-restore/cloner.cron.php?config=mycustomconfig.php – execute cron | delete config

I guess the question is how do I create a custom config in xCloner…it worked great before :(. I think the program did it for me. Thanks for your help, DJ

Oh, wow, do I feel stupid. I “THOUGHT” all I had to do was put a name in the blank “configurationname” space. I set it up to run again in two days and will see if it works, but I know this time it saved it. I truly appreciated your getting back to me all these posts. Take that back, wasn’t that easy. This time, I clicked on “run cron” and got this:

To run this script you need to create a custom config file inside XCloner Config, and call the script using php cli command like this:
    php /home/npgscom/public_html/wp-content/plugins/xcloner-backup-and-restore/cloner.cron.php mycustomconfig.php

What do I put where? I’m giving up for a day or so.

    Thanks, DJ

It says in that error message, use a cron schedule from your server and add the specified line

    php /home/npgscom/public_html/wp-content/plugins/xcloner-backup-and-restore/cloner.cron.php mycustomconfig.php

    should be pretty simple

That’s what I’ve been doing all along, which is why I am getting frustrated. THIS time I compared space for space and I left off the “mycustomconfig.php.” I scheduled for tomorrow and will see if it works.
