    H there guys,

I’ve been looking around for a staging plugin that would be able to push changes both ways, so the usual from staging site onto the live site, but also the other way around from live site to the satging site.

I only use the staging environment occasionaly, before a bigger update or testing a major plugin. But when it comes to small daily routine updates, I perform these directly on the live site. It would double my workload otherwise.

But what I struggle with is too keep the staging site up to date with the live site, so before I want to use the staging environment again for testing, I want to bring it to the same state as my current live site.

So just a suggestion, it would be really handy to have a push changes tool that would be able to push any changes from live to staging, so both environments are kept up to date at all times.

    What do you reckon?

    Hey Joe,

there is the update function (button Update in list of staging sites) which keeps the staging site up to date to the state of the live site. Just keep in mind, that this function just overwrites all data from the live site so its not a real merging solution and you need to take care to not overwrite important new data on the staging site

    Cheers

    Hi René,

It seems there is no push button… do we need to purchase the plugin to have this option? it wasn’t clearly advertised…

    Thank you!

    Hello,

    > So just a suggestion, it would be really handy to have a push changes tool that would be able to push any changes from live to staging, so both environments are kept up to date at all times.

For that you need the update function which is included in the free version.

To push changes from staging to live you need the pro version and the push function.

    Cheers

According to this tutorial on your web-site, you CAN push changes to live with out the PRO version: https://wp-staging.com/docs/copy-staging-site-to-live-site/

Which is precisely why I chose this plugin. Now that I am ready to push my site live, I find I am unable to do so…even though your tutorial above says I should be able to. So I downloaded and used this plug-in–thinking I could use it to it’s full extent with out the PRO version and it appears as though I’ve been mislead. So if you could please tell me how to push my changes to my live site–it would be appreciated. This is for a non-profit, so we can’t afford a PRO version of anything. Thanks!

    Hello @vmorgs

I’ve already answered you in another thread but I like to answer here as well.

Can you please quote the sentence that made you thinking that you can “push” changes without the pro version?

The push function of the pro version is not available in the free version. This should be stated clear in the article but if there is a sentence misleading please let me know.

English is not our native language so I do not want to rule any misunderstanding.

If you follow the linked tutorial just skip step 3 and follow the tutorial word by word and you should be able to move the staging site to live without using wp staging pro.

Both ways are explained in the article!

If you stuck anywhere just let me know and I like to help you.
