How do you purge log entries? I see it on the help screen, but its not there on my version. Is this only on the Pro version?

Also, when I try to add an author fiter to exclude the WP Cron entries, it doesn’t not display the author’s dropdown control. On some sites it works, on others it doesn’t display.

  • Hi BHruska,

    1. Stream records cannot be removed, they are immutable. Stream is a write-once system in order to provide trust worthy data for security auditing purposes.

More information about audit trail best practices is available on OWASP.

    2. Can you tell me what help screen you are referring to?

    3. Are you referring to the Exclude Rules?

The N/A user should be the last item on the list: http://note.io/1A1flRo

This user represents actions that are taken when the user ID = 0, such as WP Cron and WP-CLI.

This is the screen that shows you can delete log entries:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/stream/screenshots/

The link you provide for the N/A user is what I am referring to when I say it does not display the dropdown on all sites. The list of users (two of mine, plus the N/A user) does not appear. Its just not there. So I can’t put in any exclude rules if I wanted to.

Now, I am trying to filter out and see certain entries for a possible hack attempt. I am clicking on the IP address to see a list of the entries for a single IP address. The screen displays the records I want for a few seconds, then the lines flash yellow, and then the screen gets refreshed with the full list. It makes it impossible to debug the possible hack attempt! What’s up with that? The same thing happens when I put in the IP address in the search field. Displayed, flash yellow, overwrites. Unusable! And I need this info.

Also, what does the user N/A mean when there’s nothing else? I see N/A “during WP Cron”, but what about when it says nothing like that?

Is there a way to get a list of unique IP addresses in the log file?

    Thanks,
    Brian

I’m getting literally hundreds of these on the N/A user:

    “run_times” setting was updated
    “jobstatus” setting was updated
    “resume_interval” setting was updated

    What do they mean?

    Brian,

It looks like you have two support threads that are essentially about the same thing. I am going to close this one.

Please see my replies in the other thread: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/wp-cron-entries-in-log?replies=3
