I have been trying to fix a few broken links in some old comments.

When I do, all is fine if I bypass the cache. But I can’t find a way to clear the cache for these comments.

My comments are paginated, and even when I use the Cloudflare dashboard to purge pages individually, the old comment still remains.

Is there something I am missing here?

Do you have any suggestions on how to clear the cache for comments, and particularly, comment pages?

If you are editing a comment to improve the comment then the plugin won’t auto purge cache for that article page. It is only auto purged when a new comment is inserted on the database (if that option is checked).

So, after you edit the comment, you have to either purge the whole cache or purge cache for those specific pages.

Also note that there is no separate cache for comments and widgets and so on. The whole page is cached while all of it’s contents that might include comment or widget etc. So, when you are thinking about the cache, think about that whole page on that URL and not any separated components.

    Thanks for the explanation.

After deleting a comment, I tried to purge the main page URL plus comment-page-1/ and comment-page-2/

I also tried adding a new comment but the deleted comment is still appearing.

I suppose I will have to wait until I do a full cache purge. But it’s not worth doing it just to tidy up one comment.

Yes maybe the page hasn’t been purged yet when you were checking.

I’ve tried quite a few times with variations of the URL such as /comment-page-1/#comments or /comment-page-1/#comment-5872 but with no luck. I know Cloudflare can sometimes take a little while to purge single URLs. But it’s been a couple of hours now.

I’m trying to tidy up dead links in some older comments. So I’ll carry on and do a full purge when I’m finished. It’s not a big deal, just annoying.

Have you tried purging the whole cache of your website? Does that work? Also from where are you purging the cache? Via the plugin or via CF dashboard? Cause if you are purging via CF dashboard and have fallback cache enabled then despite purging the cache the fallback cache still hold the old data.

Try purging the whole cache from the plugin and see what happens.

Yes, I was trying with the CF dashboard. I didn’t think about the fallback cache. That explains it, I suppose. And no, I haven’t done a full purge yet. But I will after I finish the job of tidying up a pile of old comments. So, probably tomorrow.

I completed a full purge and everything is fine. I’ll just have to remember to use purge everything from time to time to start afresh after small changes or edits to comments, widgets, etc.

    Thanks for your help.
