Support » Plugin: Breeze - WordPress Cache Plugin » Purge individual page instead of whole cache

  • Most caching plugins allow you to configure them so when a page is updated, only the cache of that page is cleared. Clearing the whole cache seems somewhat wasteful – is there a reason breeze doesn’t have this option?

    Hi
Do you mean that with every page/post-update, Breeze purges the entire site cache?
    That is not the case.
With every page/post-update, Breeze purges the cache of that post/page and all the relevant categories and/ or tags.

That is correct. When I update a post, my whole Breeze cache is cleared. I would expect it to only clear that post (and other categories or tags), but my whole cache folder is nuked.

In this previous thread you say that updating a post clears the whole cache, which is the behaviour I am experiencing too.

Since tags and categories are global to the website, the action is applied across all tags and categories the post or page are tagged under. When a post or page is updated, Breeze removes the existing cache of the page or post AND the cache for any relevant tags, categories and/or custom post types. Outside of this, no other cache item is disturbed.

My experience is that when I update a post the whole cache is cleared. I can see it by looking at the cache folder via FTP – if I update a post, everything in the folder is deleted. But no matter, I have switched to a different cache plugin which doesn’t exhibit this behaviour.
