• I purchased the pro version and found several bugs that made the plugin completely unusable. I wrote to the plugin author and here is what I got:

    [ Email redacted ]

It’s cool you’re writing a new version but you can’t ignore people that have paid for your existing product. Please don’t purchase this product and expect it to work for you!

    Thanks,
    Aaron

Thanks for writing a review but don’t share emails on this site again.

Understood – I thought I had removed it.

It wasn’t an email address, I’m saying do not share the email content here either.

Oh interesting – I was pretty sure I hadn’t included an email address intentionally. The content of the email was related to my comments in the review. Is not posting email content part of the acceptable use for posting reviews? Either way I’m happy to oblige but could you be so kind as to refer me to the rules?

    Thanks!

Sorry for the double-post but here are the only guidelines I could find:

When posting a review, follow these guidelines:

If you are reporting an issue with this plugin, please post in the plugin support forum instead.
In order to rate a plugin, you must also submit a review.
Please provide as much detail as you can to justify your rating and to help others.

Please let me know if there are more along with not posting the content of emails. IMO adding the email addressed the last point of the existing guidelines which was “Please provide as much detail as you can to justify your rating and to help others.”

    Thanks,

There’s nothing in the guidelines that states “behave like an adult” either. 😉

It’s perfectly fine to post about your experience. You can write about that all you like but while yes, this is the Internet, there is an enforced expectation that sharing email content isn’t cool here. When that’s found it is redacted and the person is asked not to repeat that.

It’s not just you or other users here. Plugin and theme authors have been told to not do that too. Part of that is that these forums are not about “He said/She said” but mainly it’s just not a cool thing to do.

Thanks for the thorough response! I’m not sure if you intended it as an insult but I do believe I have behaved like and adult. Experience is experience. It was about being ignored by the plugin author and getting an auto response ( the email posted ) that said I’m not gonna help. The email simply validated the claim I was making.

I hope you can see how that influenced my choice to add the email to the review. Cool or not the truth is the truth. In any case I’ve heard you.

wow Jan Dembowski power trip much? there was nothing wrong with his review..
